A postmortem examination has confirmed that Cheryl Adhiambo, a 21-year-old student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), died after sustaining a single gunshot wound to the head. The incident is alleged to have occurred during a police operation in Huruma Estate. The autopsy was conducted by pathologists Grace Midigo and Simon Omuok, who determined that the bullet entered through the left side of her head and exited at the back, causing extensive damage to the brain cavity. The doctors concluded that the injury was instantly fatal and that survival would not have been possible. Adhiambo is reported to have been shot on the evening of February 7 as police pursued suspected robbery suspects in the area, an incident that has since triggered protests and tension among residents.

In the wake of the postmortem findings, human rights activists and political leaders have called for swift justice, demanding accountability from the officer believed to have fired the fatal shot. The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has since launched investigations into the shooting. The agency confirmed that a Rapid Response Team has been deployed to the scene and is currently collecting evidence, recording witness statements, and reviewing exhibits to establish exactly what transpired. Meanwhile, the National Police Service (NPS) issued its own account of events leading up to the fatal shooting.

According to police, the operation began after a complainant reported a robbery at Huruma Police Station. The victim alleged he had been attacked by five individuals known to him, robbed of a silver chain and KSh1,800, and threatened. Officers arrested two suspects initially, with follow-up investigations leading to the arrest of two more later that evening.
