Homa Bay Governor and ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga has reaffirmed her county’s strong support for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the current broad-based government, while firmly rejecting any potential political alignment with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. Speaking at a public rally in Kabondo Kasipul, Wanga emphasized that the region has made a clear and deliberate decision to remain loyal to ODM and strengthen the party’s presence.
Wanga noted that the party is focused on expanding its influence and deepening its roots in the region. She also defended ODM’s cooperation with President William Ruto’s administration, saying the arrangement is already delivering development across various parts of the country. According to the governor, counties that were previously marginalized are now benefiting from government projects, citing regions such as Homa Bay, Tana River, Kajiado, Meru, and Busia.
The ODM chairperson made it clear that the party would not entertain any form of coalition with Rigathi Gachagua, citing fundamental differences in values and ideology. She stated that ODM promotes inclusivity, unity, and respect among communities, while accusing Gachagua of advancing divisive politics that sideline smaller groups.
Wanga also responded to recent political remarks linked to Gachagua, criticizing what she described as arrogance and urging leaders to remain grounded. Using a football analogy, she reminded supporters that politics is a long game that requires strategy and patience, emphasizing that the outcome will ultimately be decided at the ballot. She further dismissed talk of reviving the Azimio coalition, saying ODM has already moved on and is now focused on its current political direction.
