Passenger Dies Aboard Kenya Airways Flight to Lagos

A passenger has died aboard a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi to Lagos after experiencing a medical emergency shortly before the aircraft landed in Nigeria. Kenya Airways confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday, saying it occurred on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, during the Nairobi-Lagos flight.

According to the airline, the passenger became unresponsive at approximately 9:20pm Nigerian time, about 20 minutes before the aircraft was scheduled to arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The cabin crew responded to the emergency by administering first aid and following established medical emergency procedures while the aircraft continued towards Lagos.

The flight eventually landed at the airport at approximately 9:41pm, where medical personnel were waiting to attend to the passenger. Kenya Airways said the medical team conducted an assessment after the aircraft landed and confirmed that the passenger had died. The airline has not released the passenger’s identity and did not disclose the suspected cause of death.

Kenya Airways said it was working with the deceased passenger’s family, relevant authorities and aviation regulators as follow-up procedures continued. The airline expressed its condolences to the family and friends of the passenger following the incident.
